Nutrient Neutrality
Nutrient Neutrality credits: position under review.
Nutrient Neutrality can be required where a development would otherwise add nutrients to protected water environments. The requirement and the appropriate mitigation are determined locally, in relation to the development, catchment and planning authority.
Dalefoot Habitat Bank is reviewing whether a Nutrient Neutrality credit offer may be appropriate. No catchment, mechanism or credit availability is confirmed at this stage.
What this means
A site-led review, not a pre-sold solution.
Where Nutrient Neutrality applies, developers may need to demonstrate that their proposal will not increase nutrient loading in the relevant protected catchment. Off-site mitigation can form part of that response when it is accepted by the relevant authorities and properly secured.
Any potential Dalefoot offer would need to be assessed against the applicable requirements, evidence and legal arrangements before units could be promoted or allocated.
