How it works

How BNG and Nutrient Neutrality credit enquiries work.

BNG and Nutrient Neutrality requirements differ, but the route to a properly documented allocation follows the same practical shape. Availability, suitability and legal arrangements are always confirmed before units are allocated.

    Enquire

    Tell us the development name, Local Planning Authority, credit type and the habitat type, unit volume or nutrient requirement if known. Include your programme so we can understand the planning context.

  2. 02

    Check suitability and availability

    We review the requirement against the current Dalefoot position. For BNG this includes the habitat type and available indicative units. For NN, it includes whether the relevant catchment and mitigation approach have been confirmed.

  3. 03

    Reserve and document

    If suitable units are available, we confirm the terms in writing and hold them against your development. The required legal agreement and registration process are then progressed for the relevant credit type.

  4. 04

    Deliver and monitor

    Habitat management is delivered and monitored through the agreed management framework for the life of the agreement. For BNG, this is guided by the Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan.
